A republican press tour dedicated to the 33rd Day of Belarusian Written Language has kicked off in Kostyukovichi

The organizers were the Ministry of Information, the Mogilev Regional Executive Committee, and the Kostyukovichi and Krychaw District Executive Committees. Nearly fifty journalists and bloggers gathered on this welcoming land to see, over the course of three days, the industrial, tourist, and cultural potential of the eastern region.

The first stop on the route was the educational institution "Kostyukovichi District State Gymnasium." A modern press center had been set up on the premises of the institution, which served as the main working platform for journalists and bloggers in the coming days.

"This festival is the only one in the country that changes its capital every year. The authorities, the region, and the population prepare for it," emphasized Deputy Minister of Information of Belarus Denis Ezersky. "A tremendous amount of work has been done over the year. Anyone who has ever been to Kostyukovichi will see the city in a completely different way. In our time, media products reach the consumer very quickly. This year we engaged the blogging community. The press tour is an opportunity to show not only the center of the celebration, but also the industrial and tourist potential of the city."

Chairwoman of the Kostyukovichi District Executive Committee Natalia Osmolovskaya spoke about the large-scale transformations in the city and shared her expectations for the upcoming celebration. The most notable event is the unveiling of the sculpture of Alesya and Ales. Bus stops featuring portraits of writers and lines from their poems have become art objects. New exhibition halls have opened at the museum.

After getting acquainted with the press center, the participants headed to the Kostyukovichi Forestry Enterprise, where an excursion along the ecological route "Trail of Health" awaited them.

"We export lumber to China, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Russia," noted director of the Kostyukovichi Forestry Enterprise Alexey Kudelko. "Compared to last year, revenue from sales amounted to 108 percent. In addition to our main activity, we are engaged in subsidiary farming – we have an apiary, and we collect honey and birch sap."

The eco-trail, created back in 2002 and improved in 2018, has become a real calling card. It is a unique place in the center of the city, featuring various species of trees and shrubs. There are benches and gazebos. People with strollers and children come here. It is a piece of forest accessible to everyone.

The next stop was the "Vysokaye" quarry – the raw material base of OJSC "Belarusian Cement Plant."

– The total area of the mining allotment is 490 hectares, – said Nikolai Kazak, head of the mining shop. – The quarry is developed in three benches, with the total depth reaching 40 meters.

Here, the journalists also spoke with Olesya Kolyadko, deputy chief technologist, who emphasized that the quality of cement improves every year. New additives are used for this purpose, and modernization is being carried out.

The tour of OJSC "Belarusian Cement Plant" continued in the factory laboratory.

– The laboratory is divided into seven sections. 55 people work here, – said Natalya Murashkina, head of the laboratory. – We are accredited in the national system, technically competent, and perform tests in accordance with the declared scope of accreditation.

After that, the delegation went to the site for growing valuable fish breeds – the trout farm "Lokhva."

At the enterprise in the village of Nizki, the journalists were shown the process of growing trout from fry to commercial fish.

Mikhail Zaitsev, head of the valuable fish breeding site No. 3 "Vysokoye" of OJSC "Trout Farm "Lokhva," shared that work is currently underway to increase processing in order to supply the market with finished products rather than only live fish, as is currently practiced for Russian partners.

In the evening, the participants were hosted by the Palace of Prince Potemkin in Krichev. Marina Marusova, a researcher at the state cultural institution "Krichev Historical Museum," conducted a tour of the ceremonial halls. There she told the visitors that the palace was built in 1787. It survived the years of the Great Patriotic War. Almost all exhibits are antiques. Today, the Krichev district executive committee's registry office is also located here.
