Belarus' Ministry of Labor reminded workers how to formalize time off from work to undergo medical screening. The Labor Code provides for such days with retention of average earnings.

How many days are entitled

Workers under 40 years of age can undergo medical screening with time off from work once every three years. Average earnings for this day are retained.

After reaching 40 years of age, such a day is provided annually.

For workers who have reached the generally established retirement age, as well as those who have no more than five years left until it, two days per year are provided. This applies to women from 53 years of age and men from 58 years of age.

The two days do not have to be taken consecutively — they can be used on different dates.

How to formalize a day for medical screening

First, the worker needs to agree with the employer on the date or dates for undergoing the medical screening. After that, a written application must be submitted.

Based on the application, the employer issues an order releasing the employee from work.

After undergoing the medical screening, the worker may in some cases need to provide the employer with an extract from medical documents. This is necessary if such an obligation is established in the organization's local legal acts.
