Over the past day, the police received over 300 reports of phone calls from telephone scammers. Thanks to the promptness of the internal affairs officers and the vigilance of citizens, the vast majority of crimes were prevented, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.
27 crimes committed using information and communication technologies have been registered.
The Department for Organizing the Processing of Fraudulent Operations of the Ministry of Internal Affairs:
initiated the blocking of 7 phishing internet resources (fake trading platforms, banks or services that are indistinguishable from real ones);
blocked the possibility of payments to 21 foreign payment details used by scammers;
suspended expenditure operations on 30 accounts.
In terms of the method of committing unlawful acts, vishing on behalf of officials (telephone scams) is the leader. This is followed by theft using social networks and purchasing goods on the internet.
Work to identify and suppress fraudulent actions continues.
Remember: offers of quick and easy earnings or buying goods at a significantly reduced price on the internet are invariably associated with the risk of losing money.
The golden rule when communicating with scammers over the phone is to end the conversation and report it to the police at number 102.
