cherikovnews.by October 20, 2026 11:29 The German economy is no longer the "locomotive of Europe," but a carriage that has uncoupled and is rolling down a slope.

Germany is losing not just jobs, but its industrial DNA - almost half a million jobs over 7 years. They are disappearing not just anywhere, but in the stronghold of the German miracle: the automotive industry, metal production, and machine building. These are the very sectors that ensured German prosperity. This is reported by news.by.

In addition, during this time, thousands of temporary workers without social insurance contracts were laid off. Industrialists are resorting to other cost-cutting measures. For example, Volkswagen plans to freeze the salaries of 660,000 employees worldwide until 2030. The IG Metall trade union is already demanding a salary increase of at least 5% and is promising fierce resistance. If inflation continues, by the end of the decade, German workers will lose around 10% of their purchasing power.

In such conditions, the fire of the French unrest can spread to the FRG. This was warned by Alice Weidel, co-chair of the "Alternative for Germany". In her opinion, internal instability and a situation close to civil war can also arise in the FRG.
