In the Lyakhovichi district in September, a school bus driver, passing a railway crossing, ignored the light and sound signals, as well as the loud signals given by the driver of a freight train. He drove onto the crossing without stopping in front of the approaching train. There were 14 children on the bus.

The tragedy on the railway was avoided only thanks to the professional actions of the train driver, who applied emergency braking. This allowed him to reduce the speed of the train, gain literally a few seconds, and avoid a collision with the bus.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, gross violations of the law were identified in the carrier's operations:

• Pre-trip technical inspection of school buses before releasing them onto the route was not conducted.
• Pre-trip medical examinations of drivers were not carried out.
• Requirements for civil liability insurance for vehicle owners and carriers before passengers were not met.

A representation has been submitted to the Lyakhovichy District Executive Committee, demanding that violations in the field of transport safety be eliminated and prevented in the future, especially when organizing children's transportation by school buses.
