The agency emphasized that maternity benefits are a right, not a privilege, and many can receive them. The main condition is enrollment in a full‑time program at a university or college.

There is also a right to payment for those who completed full‑time studies less than two months ago. The benefit amount for students is 100% of the scholarship for each calendar month, but not less than 100% of the average per capita subsistence minimum from the budget, clarified the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.

If a woman combines full‑time study with employment, maternity benefits are paid both at the place of study and at the place of work.

By the way, full‑time students are granted an academic leave during pregnancy – starting from the 24th week in a normal pregnancy or from any week in a pathological case. And benefits also continue during this period.

And what about the other payments?

Here is good news for all expectant mothers: any woman who has given birth in Belarus has the right to a number of benefits. These include:

a one‑time benefit upon the birth of a child; monthly payments for a child up to age 3; a benefit for early registration (up to 12 weeks).
