MediaTek has unveiled the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its latest flagship smartphone chipset built on a 2‑nm process. Now there is information about which devices will be the first to carry this chip. They are the Vivo X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max smartphones, whose release is scheduled for September 21.

It is reported that the Dimensity 9600 Pro features two high‑performance ultra‑class cores. According to MediaTek, compared to its predecessor, the Dimensity 9600 Pro delivers a 17 % improvement in single‑threaded performance and a 37 % boost in power efficiency. In multi‑threaded workloads, performance rises by 15 % and power efficiency by 61 %.

Vivo announced on its social media that the Dimensity 9600 Pro will be used in the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max. It emphasizes that the X500 Pro series will support 4K video recording and playback at 120 frames per second, a high‑performance neural processing unit (NPU 2.0) for image processing, and its own image‑processing chip that delivers “industry‑leading 4K portrait video Dolby Vision”.

Note that following the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, the Dimensity 9600 Pro will also power the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max, which will be unveiled on September 22.
