In Belarus, as part of the digitalization of the transport sector, a large-scale unified state system for ticket sales and fare payment is being created. The innovations will affect both urban public transport across all regions of the country and suburban and intercity passenger transport.
The software suite is planned to be fully refined by the end of the current year, and the large-scale implementation of unified payment standards across all Belarusian cities will be completed by 2027.
Urban transport: tickets, cards, and smartphones
By 2027, a unified fare payment system will be deployed in all Belarusian cities. This will allow passengers to permanently abandon the search for specialized kiosks and paper tickets when traveling to other regions of the country.
A trip on any city bus, trolleybus, or tram can be paid in several convenient ways:
Intercity and suburban: all information in one app
At the same time, the republic is creating a unified state information system for suburban and intercity bus routes.
Currently, passengers, in order to plan a complex route or choose the optimal time, have to check several disparate online services and the websites of individual bus stations. The new platform will fully solve this problem by gathering all legal routes, schedules, and fares in one place.
Project launch stages
Developers promise to fully complete the technical part of the software by the end of December of the current year. The next important step will be populating the database:
Creating a seamless digital ecosystem will not only simplify passengers' lives but also allow more effective control of the passenger transport market, track illegal routes, and promptly adjust transport schedules to the actual passenger flow.
