The publication of our newspaper's critical piece, "Birch Grove on the Roof," caused a significant stir and, most importantly, shed light on the tangled history of the property at 2nd Pervomaysky Lane. The editorial office received official clarifications that fundamentally change the perspective on who should have been maintaining this building in recent years.
It turned out that the Gomel United Construction Trust has been engaged in a long and complex legal battle to reclaim this property. Back in 2020, the former buyer ("ARD Uslugi Plus") ceased operations, splitting into two entities. The successor to OOO "ARD Uslugi Plus" became OOO "SKAF Uslugi Plus." The Trust took a principled stance and initiated a lawsuit in the Economic Court of the Minsk Region.
On September 25 of this year, justice prevailed: the purchase and sale agreement was officially terminated, and the organization finally received the title documents for the property. A remarkable coincidence: on that very same day, the article "Birch Grove on the Roof" was published on our website.
Thus, from 2017 until September 2026, the property did not legally belong to the construction trust. This means that the harsh accusations of "mismanagement" and "negligence" directed at the Trust's leadership in the article were premature—the enterprise physically and legally could not have controlled the territory. The editorial office respects the business reputation of its partners and openly acknowledges this fact.
However, today, with the legal disputes behind us, the final period in the building's history has been put. The construction trust has been officially recognized as the lawful owner. And the status of an owner, according to the legislation and decrees of the President of the Republic of Belarus, imposes clear obligations regarding the maintenance of the property. From the moment of receiving the documents, the organization has a 15-day deadline to bring order to its territory. Here, we will agree with the position of common sense: eliminating the "green zone" on the roof does not require tapping into cosmic super-resources, colossal budgets, or developing special programs. All that is needed is an owner's hand, standard tools, and a little time.
The editorial office sincerely congratulates the Gomel United Construction Trust on the successful conclusion of its legal battles and the return of its assets. We are confident that now, as a full-fledged owner, the enterprise will promptly restore order at the site, and 2nd Pervomaysky Lane will be rid of its involuntary "natural decoration."
The situation remains under the control of our readers.
