The results of the socio-economic development of the Gomel Region for January-September 2026 were discussed at a meeting of the Regional Executive Committee.

The region maintains positive dynamics in gross regional product. The situation in foreign trade is also developing positively. The wage growth rate is 112%.

  • However, we should not be complacent that most industries are showing growth, - noted at the meeting Governor Ivan Krupko. - We need to identify where additional efforts and management solutions are required. Each leader must objectively assess the situation, promptly respond to changes and risks, and achieve the set goals.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant to the President - Inspector for the Gomel Region Yuri Valevaty, member of the Council of the Republic, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies Ekaterina Zenkevich, Deputy Minister of Economy Alexey Zubovich, and in a video conference format - relevant ministries and departments.

A significant part of the added value and export potential of the Gomel Region is formed in industry.

The insufficient dynamics of some organizations cannot be considered solely as their internal problem.

  • This affects the region's investment potential, employment, and people's incomes, - noted Governor Ivan Krupko.

Regarding investments in fixed capital, heads were instructed to evaluate each significant investment project.

The task for the end of the year is to maintain positive dynamics and create a more solid foundation for implementing the socio-economic development program.

The results of the regional budget execution for nine months of 2026 were also discussed at the meeting.

Consolidated budget revenues for the region were formed at 71.6% of the annual plan. Expenditures were at 72.7%.

Financing of the social sphere is a priority. Compared to the same period last year, expenditures increased by 13.3%.

  • The main task is to maintain fiscal balance and fulfill all obligations taken on, - emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Ivan Krupko.

The effectiveness of measures to combat crimes against sexual integrity was also discussed at the meeting.

The methods of committing such crimes are changing, with more and more threats arising in the digital environment, where offenders can establish contact with children while remaining hidden from parents.

It is necessary to build a system for early risk detection, to improve digital literacy not only among children but also parents, and to train teachers and other specialists.

"Our task is to do everything possible to ensure a child is protected at home, in educational institutions, in public places, and in the digital environment," Ivan Krupko emphasized.
