The growth rate of real incomes of the Belarusian population exceeded forecast indicators. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Economy Elena Boligatova at the session of the National Council on Labor and Social Issues. Real incomes of Belarusians for January-July 2026 grew by 8.1%.

Salary as the main driver of growth

The main source of income increase for citizens was the dynamics of wages. In real terms, from January-August it grew by 7.7%. Wages of budget recipients are rising even faster.

"Increased incomes enable people to be more active in the consumer market. Retail turnover over these eight months of this year grew by 8.4% to the level of a similar period last year. Increased real incomes of the population were largely facilitated by government measures aimed at curbing inflation. Consumer prices from January-August compared with the same period of 2025 rose by 5.1%. At the same time, by the end of August one of the lowest inflation rates in EAEU countries was achieved - plus 4.5%", noted Elena Boligatova.

Prospects for Growth of Population Income

The Deputy Minister emphasized that further growth of real incomes of the population will be ensured by industrial, export and investment programs. These approaches are enshrined in Presidential Decree No. 342 of September 30, 2026, on key parameters of socio-economic development for 2027.

"Improving the competitiveness of domestic products, expanding export supplies, and improving the financial condition of enterprises will become a guarantee of fulfilling state social obligations. Above all, this means creating decent living conditions, improving infrastructure quality, and further increasing the incomes of the population", said Elena Boligatova.
