In the Gomel region, traffic police carried out preventive activities over the weekend aimed at preventing road accidents and stopping serious traffic violations that could endanger road safety, according to the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Department.

As a result of the work, 1,357 traffic rule violations were recorded. Among them:

• 13 drivers were driving under the influence;
• 42 had no right to operate vehicles;
• 189 cases of exceeding the permitted speed;
• 29 drivers failed to yield to pedestrians;
• 15 ran a red traffic light;
• 7 violations related to overtaking rules or entering the oncoming lane;
• 166 cases of not using seat belts;
• 36 instances of transporting children without special restraint devices.

In addition, 243 traffic rule violations were recorded among vulnerable road users, including 12 cases of being under the influence.
