As part of the regional project “Career Guidance Excursions — Professions of Our Parents,” eighth-graders from Gomel Secondary School No. 12 visited an experimental sorting and waste processing plant for household secondary resources.

At the facility of the enterprise Spetskommuntrans, the students received occupational safety training, saw the sorting lines and warehouses of finished secondary products pressed by type, learned about the rules for sorting municipal waste, the shredding of wood into wood chips, and their use for the enterprise’s own needs. In addition, the schoolchildren were shown products made from sand and polymers.

Deputy Director for Ideological Work Yulia Popova told the guests about the professions in demand at the enterprise. These include secondary raw material sorter and plastic products presser. At the meeting, the students received handouts with waste sorting rules and souvenirs.

Yulia Ivanovna also told the children about a waste paper collection contest among educational institutions, which was announced on April 1 and will run until December 1. The winners will receive a laptop. The schoolchildren were urged to actively take part in collecting this resource useful for recycling.
