On Monday, Brest was visited on a working trip by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus, Nuriddin Mamajonov. The main item on the agenda was a meeting with the head of the Brest region, Pyotr Parkhomchik. The focus was on issues of economics, exports, logistics, education, culture, and sports.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, who was visiting Brest for the first time, was accompanied by Advisor to the khokim of Fergana Region in Belarus Lyudmila Kovalyevskaya and Advisor on Trade and Economic Affairs Khasan Nazarov.

Opening the meeting with the head of the Uzbek diplomatic mission in Belarus, Pyotr Parkhomchik spoke about the first region's interaction with this country. Based on 2025 results, mutual trade turnover increased by more than 16% and exceeded $120 million, while from January to June 2026 it amounted to $75 million and grew by 32.7% compared to the same period last year. The Brest region exports meat, dairy products, timber, gas and electric stoves, and refrigerators to Uzbekistan, and imports cotton fabrics, yarn, clothing, polyester fibers, and fruits. This looks decent in the context of Belarus, but the numbers could have been different, and to increase them the sides are ready for new solutions. Interregional cooperation with Uzbekistan's regions is being intensified: in early July, the first region hosted a delegation of official and business circles from the Bukhara and Syrdarya regions.

"That visit laid a solid foundation, and today we are particularly glad to welcome you in Brest — to give practical continuation to our dialogue," Pyotr Parkhomchik said, addressing Nuriddin Mamajonov. "I am confident that this continuity of meetings will allow us to quickly move from discussing strategic plans to implementing specific mutually beneficial projects." The head of the region focused on three key vectors where interests coincide the most: food security and the agro-industrial complex, industrial cooperation, logistics, and humanitarian ties. In these areas, the first region has much to offer Uzbekistan with maximum benefit for both sides.

As Uzbekistan's Ambassador Nuriddin Mamajonov noted, the figures for trade turnover between the countries and regions are significant. "We discussed expanding industrial cooperation between our enterprises in such areas as household appliances, electronics, and electrical engineering. We are interested in cooperation in the field of construction materials, in particular with the company STiM, as well as the possibility of further expanding mutual trade turnover through new potential projects. For example, the creation of a wholesale distribution center or a new logistics hub on the territory of Brest Oblast," Nuriddin Mamajonov said in an interview with a Zarya correspondent. "We are also interested in the exchange of goods produced by our countries and regions. There was a discussion about the possibility of establishing direct air service between Brest Oblast and individual regions — Fergana or Bukhara oblasts. Such discussions open up new opportunities and platforms for increasing our mutual trade turnover, as well as creating strong partnerships between our universities and vocational colleges."

The meeting also confirmed agreements on a visit by the heads of two regions of Uzbekistan — Fergana and Syrdarya — who will arrive in October with a delegation of entrepreneurs. "Our regions are focused on concrete results," the Uzbek diplomat summarized. The business trip to Brest concluded with a visit to the enterprises of OAO Savushkin-Produkt, LLC AgroPishcheProm, LLC STiM, and Brest Airport.
