On the MKAD, it seems they'll solve an old problem. But not everywhere yet.

On the MKAD there are exits and entrances where acceleration and deceleration lanes are missing. That means you have to turn from the far right lane, where the speed limit is 90 km/h, and exit from the same lane, hoping to accelerate before someone catches up from behind. Instructor Yuri Krasnov, for example, has called this the main problem of the Minsk ring road. It seems that this is being solved, but not everywhere yet.

Construction work is underway on the outer ring, at the Lipki bend, toward the golf club and nearby residential blocks. The area is fenced off and machinery is operating. The shoulder is torn up, and temporary markings have been laid on the carriageway.

— Can you imagine that on a highway with such limits and such traffic density there would be no simple and essential elements like acceleration and deceleration lanes? Imagine that! And there are not just one or two problematic spots — there are quite a few, an unacceptably large number for a capital ring road.

In the end, drivers constantly take risks. Those who exit the ring road often pull onto the shoulder because you brake and fear being hit from behind — the risk is indeed very high. Many may simply not know that this problem exists; otherwise they would cautiously move into at least the middle lane. They drive at 90 km/h, and suddenly the car ahead starts braking: what, why?

The problem exists, and it is serious.

In addition, a connecting road from the MKAD to the railway crossing is being built. The stated completion date is March 2027.
