The amount of sugar planned to be produced in Belarus from the harvest of sweet root crops in 2026 was announced by the chairman of the Belarusian Food Industry Concern, Oleg Zhidkov, on the air of the First Informative TV channel, as reported by BELTA.

Oleg Zhidkov recalled that the sugar beet harvest started already at the end of August. The yield is quite good. According to agrarians' forecasts, it will exceed 5.5 million tons, which will require additional efforts to process quickly and without losses.

As for how apple processing is organized at canning industry enterprises, this was explained by Belarusian Food Industry Concern.

The Belarusian Food Industry Concern increased its export supplies by a quarter over eight months.

From processing cocoa beans to granulating oilcake, what projects is the Belarusian Food Industry Concern implementing?

"The work is synchronized at all stages from the field to the enterprise. Starting from transportation, storage to supply to processing facilities, the process must be continuous," Oleg Zhidkov noted.

Sugar factories are undergoing modernization and are currently capable of processing more than 40,000 tons of sugar beets per day. The processing time is being reduced, costs associated with it are being optimized, and losses from late processing periods are being minimized.

"We have already processed more than 1.8 million tons of sugar beets. In terms of dynamics, we are ahead of last year. We have produced more than 280,000 tons of sugar. The production volumes indicate that we should obtain at least 700,000 tons. This will be enough not only for domestic consumption by residents and processing enterprises that use sugar as raw materials but also to lay a fairly good export potential," Oleg Zhidkov noted.
