In Belarus, the registry of passenger car transport includes information on 39,000 taxi drivers in an irregular report. This was announced to journalists by the head of the Department of Automotive and Urban Passenger Transport of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, Andrey Gladkiy, as reported by the BELTA correspondent.

It is expected that by the end of the year the figure will exceed 40,000.

According to Andrey Gladkiy, Decree No. 32 of January 25, 2024 fully brought order to the passenger car transport sector. The operation of the registry has helped raise the safety level of transport and create conditions for further improvement of the quality of services provided.

The head of the department emphasized that competition exists in the market and new major players are entering. “The sector is developing. In 2026, serious work was carried out to adjust regulatory legal acts, presented in the new edition of the rules for passenger car transport,” he added.

Answering a question about the possibility of creating a national taxi aggregator in the country, Andrey Gladkiy said there are no such plans. “The topic occasionally arises, but it is important to preserve a competitive environment,” he says.

Over time, in the distant future, Belarus may move toward a unified platform for online orders, but it should address other tasks—tracking vehicle movements, monitoring financial flows—rather than consolidating carriers into a single service.
