The Rogachev District Prosecutor's Office, in the interests of the agricultural enterprise, filed a lawsuit claiming compensation for damage caused by the death of livestock in the amount of more than 24.5 thousand rubles, according to the information service of the Gomel Region Prosecutor's Office.

During the inspection it was established that on May 11, 2026, six heads of cattle died. A few days before the incident, one leaf of the gate on the front side of the barn was broken. On the other side the doors were tied with a rope. At night in the barn the cows broke the metal partition separating the feed table. Then they left it, tearing the rope and breaking the doors. After some time six animals fell on the farm territory.

Employees of the district veterinary station found remnants of phosphate fertilizers at the site of the dead animals.

According to the write‑off acts, the causes of the cattle death were ruminal tympany and poisoning by phosphate fertilizers.

It was established that in the spring of this year mineral fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphate, potassium) were located at that place, stored in the open air, not in storage facilities. For this the executive director, at the prosecutor’s demand of the Rogachev District, was brought to disciplinary responsibility.

After the fertilizers were moved, their residues were not cleaned up and remained on the grass and ground.

As a result of the dishonest performance of their labor duties by the enterprise’s executive director, watchman and zootechnician, the death of the animals became possible.

Reference. According to Article 937 of the Civil Code of the Republic of Belarus, a legal entity compensates for harm caused by its employee while performing his/her labor (service, official) duties.

Taking into account that the executive director was appointed to the position by an open joint‑stock company, the claim was filed against the legal entity.

The court satisfied the prosecutor’s claim, recovering more than 24.6 thousand rubles in damages from two guilty employees of the agricultural enterprise and the managing organization.

The court decision has entered into legal force.
