Looking for a motorcycle? If you, like our journalist, only recently got your license, you might be disappointed by the selection of new bikes on the market: some big brands have left Belarus, and many have never even come. Yet it’s unlikely that the staff at MotoVeloZavod or Chinese brands like QJMOTOR are sad about this. So a new Russian motorcycle brand decided to seize the moment and look for potential customers among Belarusian bikers. We got acquainted with the Timpton brand and also learned what new models have appeared on our market.
What is this brand Timpton?
You probably don’t know much about Timpton Motorcycles: the brand is very young – it appeared only this year. The owner is the MC RUS group of companies, which supplies industrial equipment for marine and energy technologies. So yes, you
We managed to take a ride on the Bobber S. Since it's relatively long and has a wide rear wheel, it seemed that turning it around would be difficult. Let's just say that after riding the shorter models, the U-turn felt unusual, but the turning radius was much smaller than expected. Thanks to the low center of gravity, even at low speeds, the motorcycle handled stably in turns, although it's obvious that this model is designed more for long straight rides.
The seat height was a pleasant surprise for someone of shorter stature: both feet easily reach the ground. Like in choppers, the footpegs are conveniently positioned forward. Of course, this is a matter of taste and habit. We're not sure a person of average height would be comfortable if the motorcycle remained in its factory configuration.
The engine here is a liquid-cooled, 800cc V-twin four-stroke (57 hp at 6,000 rpm), so it's more suited for experienced riders. However, it seemed that the bike is ready to "forgive" a novice for abrupt throttle inputs. But, we repeat, we didn't have the opportunity to fully test the bike in action.
The ABS system here is dual-channel, meaning it prevents the lock-up of both the front and rear wheels during braking.
As for the suspension, there's a 43mm inverted telescopic fork in front (105mm travel), which is fully adjustable. The rear suspension is a swingarm type with two spring-loaded shocks (47mm travel), also fully adjustable.
The lighting is LED, and there are heated grips and a seat. The keyless access also works. In the showroom, the price was quoted at 33,300 rubles; the Bobber with the narrower wheel is 500 rubles cheaper.
Timpton X500C and Bagger
The second model we got to know was the smaller-displacement X500C—a road cruiser. Its price is also lower—21,600 rubles.
The options here also include keyless start, heated grips/seat, LED lighting, a tire pressure sensor, and a dual-channel ABS system.
The model externally resembles motorcycles like the Honda Rebel. The dimensions are 2140×848×1170 mm. The wheelbase is 1500 mm. The seat height is also 69 cm, although visually the bike seems taller than the previous model. The weight is 196 kg.
Here, there's a twin inline four-stroke engine
