Established in Bobruysk almost 90 years ago, the fourth hydrolysis plant in the USSR processed wood processing waste into glucose, from which ethanol was then obtained. A large biotechnological production facility was launched here in 1967 after the commissioning of the feed yeast shop. In 2013, the enterprise was renamed the Bobruysk Biotechnology Plant and became the production base of the National Academy of Sciences. Currently, it is the largest producer of household chemicals, carbon dioxide, ethanol, and biotechnological products for agriculture in the republic.

The center for the implementation of scientific ideas, the plant's products successfully replace imports, are effective, and do not concede to foreign analogs, which is why they are successfully sold. Every year, the plant releases four to five new products. This allows not only to provide for Belarusian consumers but also to increase exports and establish a presence in the global market. The main partners are currently Russia, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Georgia, Iran, Israel, and other countries. The production of innovative biopreparations is growing particularly noticeably, with the share of their supplies increasing from 25 to 76 percent. In 2025, a new shop for dry form preparations was built at the plant. This production is a showcase example of the work of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. It has implemented a complete innovative chain: from a scientific idea to the mass production of a finished product. To implement the planned project, scientists have created modern equipment for the drying shop, developed original biotechnologies for obtaining probiotics and feed additives for animal husbandry, biological means of protection, and microbial preparations for plant growing, bio-disinfectants for environmental protection. The products are released in a convenient dry form for transportation. Unlike liquid forms of preparations, it does not require special storage conditions and has a long shelf life. This will allow increasing exports by a third and improving the production's profitability. Dry forms are in high demand on the global market. Large contracts for supplies to Russia and China have already been concluded, so the creation of another line is planned. Feed additives such as "Sporobact", "Sporobact-K", "Biodigestin-S", "Aquabacillin", and the biocide "Bactaven-S" are in high demand.

Household Goods Among the products of the Bobruisk Biotechnology Plant, there are many consumer goods: cleaning and washing agents for household use, cosmetics for hair, face and hand care, car cosmetics, and useful items for tourism and leisure. In 2025, the enterprise launched the production of perfumery and cosmetic products under the brand "Life is beautiful". The series includes shampoos, hair conditioners, and shower gels created with consideration of modern requirements for product quality, safety, and effectiveness. Lotions for face care are being released, and the expansion of the "Just Space" series of after-shave lotions is planned. The liquid soap "YES" is claimed to be hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Under the "Very Good" brand, laundry gel and fabric conditioner are produced. For washing dishes, "PCHELKA" and "PCHELKA plus" agents are released. The use of "Deminaralized Water" instead of regular tap water will extend the lifespan of household appliances: irons, kettles, and air humidifiers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the enterprise became strategic. The queue for the antiviral gel "Clean Hands" for organizations and enterprises from all over Belarus was scheduled several weeks in advance.

Car owners may be interested in car cosmetics under the "Krugozor" brand. These include winter and summer windshield washers, the "Krugozor minus 20°C" PREMIUM windshield washer for extreme frosts, car shampoo for contactless washing, and a drying aid for cars. To protect the engine from overheating, freezing, rust formation, and scale buildup, a low-freeze cooling liquid "Aysberg -40" is designed.

Important components of future harvests Biotechnology allows agricultural producers and amateur gardeners to grow healthy plants and obtain useful and safe products from them. Special care is necessary in the middle of summer, when the long-awaited harvest is ripening on the beds. It is impossible to use chemical means at this time, because the greens and fruits will soon go to the table. The Bobruysk biotechnology plant releases a safe alternative to "chemistry" - natural bioproducts that protect plants and do not harm health.

The biocide of complex action "Baktojen" is a preparation for protecting cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbage from bacterial and fungal diseases: phytophthora, powdery mildew, gray rot, and others. The growth stimulator "Stimul" helps plants survive the weather's whims (heat, drought, or heavy rains) and significantly affects crop growth. The immunomodulating preparation "MaxImmun" promotes resistance to various stress factors, improves growth and development, and increases the yield of all garden crops. The plant's novelty - the growth stimulator "Epine" - increases the natural immunity of plants, which has a positive effect on their growth and fruiting.

All these preparations are environmentally safe, as they are not pathogenic to plants, animals, and humans. They do not have a waiting period - the time from the last treatment to harvest. Therefore, after their use, you do not need to wait long to consume the grown product. The assigned IV class of danger is the lowest (low-hazard). This group also includes familiar superphosphate, wood ash, compost, humates, and biogumus.

When following the rules of storage, transportation, and application, such means are low-toxic. When handling them, it is enough to follow ordinary precautions, and after finishing work, simply wash your hands.

Biotechnology is a very promising direction for the development of the world economy. By 2030, it is planned to obtain 80% of medicines with their help, ensure about half of the volume of agricultural production, and one-third of the goods of the chemical industry. And our republic has all the opportunities not only to reach the designated level but also to strengthen its position among the world's leading producers of biotechnological products.
