Every year in Belarus, on the last Sunday of September, Machine Builder's Day is celebrated. For this occasion, the region's main statistics department shares figures and facts about professionals in this industry.

In the Gomel region, more than 23,000 machine builders are employed, accounting for 15.5% of the total number of people employed in industry. This is predominantly men — 76.6%, and a large half of the industry's workers have secondary specialized and vocational-technical education. The average age of workers is 43.2 years.

In the southeastern region, there are 28 large and medium-sized machine-building enterprises, which produce machines and equipment, computing, electronic and optical apparatus, and transport vehicles. Products are supplied to 29 countries worldwide.
