Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko intends to comprehensively assess the development of electric transport in the country. This was stated by Dmitry Krutoy, head of the Presidential Administration, on the Belarus 1 TV channel.
The President will visit Belkommunmash.
By the end of the year, the head of state plans to assess the situation at several industrial enterprises.
In particular, a visit to Belkommunmash, one of the leading manufacturers of electric transport in Belarus, is expected.
As Dmitry Krutoy noted, in recent years decisions have been made regarding the development of pilot cities and the transition to electric bus service. This concerns Zhodino, Shklov, and Novopolotsk.
Also under consideration is the replacement of part of the route transport between Minsk and its satellite cities with electric buses, as well as further development of the domestic electric bus cluster. MAZ and the Stadler plant are working in this direction.
Belarus is assessing opportunities for growth in electricity consumption.
Separately, the President is interested in how the issue of increasing electricity consumption is being addressed after the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant reaches its design capacity and is integrated into the country's energy system.
According to Krutoy, electric traction equipment remains a promising direction. Besides the domestic market, there is serious demand from Russia, which creates opportunities for increasing exports.
"The direction of electric traction equipment is very promising. There is huge demand, including from the Russian market, which means serious export opportunities. Therefore, the President wants to comprehensively look at this history," said Dmitry Krutoy.
