Asipovitski Kray, October 23, 2026, 14:12 - Domestic enterprises MАZ and Belkommunmash can implement joint programs under the current management system without merging. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, during his visit to the Belkommunmash holding in Minsk, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

The head of state was informed that domestic public transport manufacturers are cooperating with each other. For example, Belkommunmash and the Minsk Automobile Plant are currently implementing a joint project where electric equipment produced by Belkommunmash is installed on the MАZ body.

Lukashenko sets the task of transitioning to environmentally friendly transport on all tourist facilities. He also called passenger cars the main competitor to public transport but is confident in its prospects. Additionally, Lukashenko urges manufacturers of passenger equipment not to miss the window of opportunity in the market.

Previously, the government had expressed opinions on the possible advisability of merging the two enterprises, since they partially produce similar products.

The President questioned whether it is necessary to merge the two companies. "Let the directors decide whether to merge or not. We can merge anything here in a matter of hours, but the labor collectives and directors will be against it. Second: is it necessary to take and merge, as proposed? Or, under such dictatorship, as we have, and the influence of the ministry, can they work as they do now, but implement joint programs?"

There are no due results yet. Lukashenko critically assessed the work of JSC Stadler Minsk. He also instructed to study the question of whether Minsk residents will switch to a subway tram.

The President was reported that the enterprises are currently acting in this direction.
