Safety of work is ensured by maintaining containers in proper condition and their correct use. The container's number, purpose, net weight, and maximum load capacity must be indicated on industrial containers (except for special technological ones). Faulty lifting and transport equipment, mechanization means, fixtures, and tools that do not meet load capacity requirements or are unsuitable for the type of cargo must not be used.

Cargo Storage and Handling

Cargo must be stacked so as to eliminate the danger of falling or tipping over, and to ensure safe and accessible retrieval. Reinforced concrete slabs must be stacked with supports and spacers. Moving a cargo of unknown weight is permitted only after its actual weight has been determined by a person responsible for work safety. Moving cargo over 20 kg for a distance of more than 25 m during a technological process must be done using lifting and transport devices or mechanization means. Lifting or lowering a cargo over 50 kg is permitted only if the load per loader does not exceed 50 kg.

Typical Violations (based on inspection materials):

• The storage area lacks a hard surface, and the stability of materials is not ensured;
• There are no wheel stops to prevent the tipping or rolling of non-rail floor transport;
• The access to the loading/unloading ramp is blocked by pallets;
• The container's number, purpose, net weight, and maximum load capacity are not indicated on the industrial container;
• Containers are used for moving workers;
• The signaling equipment on the forklift is damaged, and the key is left in the ignition;
• The load capacity, inventory number, and name of the structural subdivision are not indicated on the cargo trolley;
• The cargo hook of the electric hoist is not equipped with a safety locking device to prevent the spontaneous release of the gripping elements;
• Safe cargo storage conditions are not ensured;
• Reinforced concrete slabs are stacked without supports and spacers.
