Investments in the regions create opportunities for job creation, wage increases, and the implementation of social programs, said Mikhail Rusy, Chairman of the Permanent Commission of the Council of the Republic on Legislation and State Building, in a comment to journalists at a joint off-site meeting of the Permanent Commission on Legislation and State Building and the Permanent Commission on International Affairs and National Security, according to a Belta correspondent.
"It has been 30 years since the All-Belarusian People's Assembly began its work. The first five-year development program for our country was approved. These days, we are summarizing the results of 30 years of work," said Mikhail Rusy.
The Chairman of the Permanent Commission noted that each All-Belarusian People's Assembly had a specific theme and marked a new stage in the country's development. At the second meeting of the VII Assembly, seven development priorities were considered, one of which was the development of the country through the development of regions. It was emphasized: strong regions mean a strong country, a strong state. The head of state set a task for at least one investment project to be under the personal patronage of the chairman of the district executive committee.
The parliamentarian noted that more than half of the district budget is formed from income tax. And investments in the region mean wages, it means jobs. "That is, we receive products, jobs for people, we receive a budget for the implementation of social programs," he said, emphasizing that the implementation of the adopted decisions is under strict control. The head of state has already examined these issues several times at his level.
Speaking of Lida, where the joint off-site meeting took place, Mikhail Rusy noted that the city was included in the list of cities of accelerated development. At least eleven projects are being implemented in Lida and the district—all of them are extremely important. Innovative, export-oriented products are being created.
Speaking about regional development, the parliamentarian cited the example of the "Konus" enterprise of the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the Mechanization of Agriculture," located in Lida. The plant produces hot-dip galvanized products on modern equipment using the latest technologies.
Parliamentarians examined the company's operations across all areas. Mikhail Rusy noted the high wages and excellent social benefits package, which allows employees to feel confident about the future. It is noteworthy that the team has expanded significantly in a short period, with 280 people now working there. The company has established its own staff training school.
The chairman of the standing committee drew attention to the well-organized work with large families, children, and pensioners. "Not only at the enterprise itself. Look at how much attention is paid to sports," he said, noting that the company sponsors several sports clubs.
