In Minsk, another large-scale reconstruction of a cultural landmark is underway. The next project will be the Belarus State Academic Music Theatre. General director of Minskstroi, Anatoly Vederychik, informed the “Minsk-News” agency of this.

The renovation project is currently in the design stage, and work on the site is scheduled to begin in 2027.

— They will modernize the stage, the halls, the engineering networks, and the stage equipment. Even additional rooms will be created, — added the general director of Minskstroi.

By the way, discussions about the need to renovate the music theatre were already taking place more than a decade ago. In 2017, they even discussed a four‑story annex on the side of Klara Zetkin Street, because the artists lacked service rooms. However, at that time the proposed options were not liked by either the city planners or the residents of Minsk.

The builders will enter the music theatre precisely at the time of completion of work on another complex project — the National Academic Drama Theatre named after M. Gorky. They plan to put it into operation this year, despite all the problems that arose during the process.

— It is a monument of architecture, and during construction there were difficulties, including with restoration work. There were many engineering questions, because the building was built long ago. Some of the work we simply could not foresee: the final survey was already after the opening, and the nuances were even about the foundation.
