Apple is currently putting all its efforts into ramping up production volumes of the foldable iPhone Ultra. It is reported that for now, the production of Apple's "clamshells" is limited to just a few hundred units per day. The main reason, allegedly, lies in the company's extremely high quality control standards.

Earlier, Nikkei Asia reported that Apple plans to release between 8 and 10 million foldable iPhones this year. Now, one of the supply chain managers told journalists that Apple has very high quality requirements for gadgets, and in August the company conducted an additional trial run before the start of actual production of foldable smartphones:

"However, the ramp-up of production is happening slowly, and at the end of August the output is only a few hundred units per day. Meeting market demand at this initial volume may prove challenging."

Recall that the iPhone Ultra will be unveiled on September 9. The device is expected to cost between $2,000 and $2,500.
