In Grodno, buildings of a 19th-century brewery will be transformed into a multifunctional complex
Preserve every single brick and give historic buildings a second life. In Grodno, the buildings of a 19th-century brewery will be transformed into a multifunctional complex.
The site is a historical and cultural value, located in the very heart of the city — on the bank of the Neman River. More than six thousand square meters had long stood vacant, awaiting reconstruction. Everything here has been carefully cleaned, restored, and built up. Wherever possible, the ancient brickwork and elements of even earlier construction — the palace of the Oginski family — have been preserved. Plans include the placement of 16 restaurants, an interactive museum, shops, a business center, and an art space in the historic cellars. As a reminder of the past, even a mini-brewery will be opened.
Alexander Zaglubotsky, Deputy Director of the client's construction company: At the moment, the complex plans to include three separate buildings, plus a fourth building — a hotel complex, but that is the second phase of construction. In October, we plan to take possession of the site and begin construction work.
Andrei Khmel, Chairman of the Grodno City Executive Committee: And the incorporation of this entire complex into the reconstruction of the embankment. A large, beautiful staircase will descend and flow into the embankment, which we will also reconstruct before the city's anniversary in two years. And we are confident that a very iconic place, with no analogues in Belarus, will open. For us this is a major event, and we are looking forward to it very much.
It is expected that all main construction works of the first phase will be completed by the end of this year. And already at the beginning of the next year, the complex's cafes and restaurants will welcome guests. Businessmen from Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan are showing interest in the spaces.
