On how tax authorities are fighting shadow wages and why 'gray' schemes pose serious risks for employers and employees, said Deputy Head of the Inspection of the MNS for the Novobelitsky District of Gomel, Galina Kolesnikova.
According to Galina Kolesnikova, the most common scheme for evading taxation is salary in envelopes:
Such payments constitute a violation of legislation: the budget fails to receive significant sums of taxes and contributions, including the Social Protection Fund of the Population, which finances pensions and benefits.
When a supervisory authority identifies a fact of unlawful non‑withholding and non‑transfer to the budget, the materials are forwarded to the territorial divisions of the FSZN and Belgosstrakh for presenting the payable contributions, as well as to law‑enforcement agencies for a legal assessment.
And it is important for employees to remember: a “gray” salary is an illusion of high income that deprives them of social guarantees and a future pension.
– If you encounter facts of wage payment in an envelope, show civic responsibility – report the information by phone at 189 or send a written message to the tax authority at your place of registration, – urged Galina Kolesnikova.
