As reported by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the country plans to create national-level enterprises with zero carbon emissions (including computing infrastructure facilities), according to an online report by People's Daily.
The creation of such enterprises envisages reducing carbon emissions through technological innovation, structural modernization, and improvement of management systems. The main goal is to ensure a steady reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and gradually achieve carbon neutrality.
Enterprises with zero carbon emissions will include manufacturing enterprises and data centers that have the necessary foundation for implementing the project, clearly defined goals and an implementation plan, and have committed to completing construction within the stipulated timeframe. They are expected to become model sites for deploying relevant technologies and practices.
The document sets three key indicators: carbon emissions per unit of consumed energy, the share of energy from non-renewable sources in total energy consumption, and the share of electricity from non-renewable sources verified by an origin certification system. Enterprises seeking inclusion in the relevant state program must meet the basic requirements for these indicators and commit to achieving the established target values during the project implementation period.
