The large bill was examined on September 14 at the Expert Council of the Council of the Republic. The document is comprehensive. It amends 12 laws and 137 articles of the Labor Code. Among the key innovations are the expansion of social guarantees for families with children, the improvement of working conditions for young people, as well as the establishment of the mentorship institution and the preservation of jobs for those discharged from military service.

Natalia Pavlyuchko, Chair of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus:

“The bill is very important and necessary, because today we need both an economy that is staffed with personnel and, at the same time, the strengthening and development of social guarantees for our citizens within the framework of labor relations. Therefore it is a planned bill, it was included in the draft preparation plan and worked on with a very wide range of stakeholders. More than 40 bodies participated in creating this bill and in its coordination. The developer is the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.”

The bill has been supported by the Expert Council and will be refined taking into account the received expert proposals and the results of public dialogue.
