Real wage growth has accelerated in Belarus — EDB

"Real wage growth has accelerated in Belarus, creating conditions for an expansion of consumer demand. In May 2026, real wages increased by 7.5% year-on-year after a growth of 6.7% year-on-year in April," the expert analysis states.

According to the researchers' estimates, in the budget sector, real wage growth remains above the economy-wide average: it accelerated to 9.9% year-on-year after 9.7% year-on-year a month earlier.

"Wages account for roughly two-thirds of household income. Their continued increase will keep supporting the growth of real disposable household incomes, which rose by 8% year-on-year in January–April 2026. This creates conditions for further expansion of consumer activity and economic growth. Against this backdrop, we forecast Belarus's GDP growth at 1.3% in 2026," the bank concluded.
