In Belarus, preparations are underway for the launch of a unique base for testing electric chargers.

The Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification is finishing preparation of a site for testing DC charging stations. This was announced by the institute's director Alexander Skuratov, reports BELTA.

With the appearance of this facility in the country, they will be able to fully test the entire infrastructure for electric transport. This will help implement the government's plans to increase the number of electric vehicles in Belarus. Moreover, unified standards will help domestic manufacturers confidently sell their charging stations abroad.

Testing equipment before production start

Head of BelGISS noted an important detail: Belarusian factories have started to test their products more often before launching them into mass production. Such an approach is beneficial for business:

  • Factories can find and fix errors in equipment in advance.
  • Enterprises save time and money.
  • Finished products are guaranteed to pass official certification.

The institute is developing infrastructure for electric vehicles step by step. In 2024, BelGISS learned to test AC charging stations (regular chargers) for safety and resistance to interference. In 2026, specialists will complete the creation of a base for testing DC charging stations (fast chargers).

New challenge: protection against hackers

Currently, BelGISS is already developing standards for digital safety of unmanned transport. Alexander Skuratov emphasized that protecting vehicle software from cyberattacks is a global trend.

The European Union, South Korea, and Japan already protect their markets with strict cybersecurity rules for automobiles. Since modern vehicles are controlled by electronics, their protection against hacking is critically important for road safety.
