Over the past 24 hours, 11 road accidents occurred in Belarus, in which four people died. This was reported to BELTA by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Nine people were injured, including two children.

On Friday evening, two pedestrians who were moving without reflective elements were struck in the Brest and Minsk regions. In the Brest region, a 63-year-old resident of David-Haradok was walking an electric bicycle equipped with reflectors by hand, moving in the same direction along the right edge of the roadway despite the presence of a pedestrian path on the left. He ended up under the wheels of a Mercedes truck and died.

In the Minsk district, the driver of a Renault crossover fatally struck a 38-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in an undesignated place.

"In accordance with the requirements of the traffic rules, a pedestrian must walk on the sidewalk or pedestrian path, and in their absence, on a bicycle path, without obstructing the movement of cyclists and drivers of personal mobility devices, or on the roadside. If these road elements are absent or it is impossible to walk on them, a pedestrian is allowed to walk along the edge of the roadway facing the flow of traffic. In the dark, a pedestrian must mark themselves with a reflective element," the Ministry of Internal Affairs reminded.

Already in the morning at about 9:30 a.m. in Petrikov, the driver of a MAZ truck, while reversing, ran over his 62-year-old partner. The man died.

The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds that road safety is the result of discipline and attentiveness of all road users. "In autumn, when the road situation is complicated by short daylight hours, cloudy weather, rains and fogs, it is necessary to be extremely careful on and near the roadway, and strictly comply with the requirements of the traffic rules," the Ministry of Internal Affairs added.
