Cold weather is fast approaching, which means the heating season is just around the corner. The Chausky District Gas Supply tells how the enterprise and consumers are preparing for the cold, and shares secrets of sensible energy saving.

In preparation for the upcoming heating season, specialists of the Chausky District Gas Supply are already carrying out a large-scale set of measures. The main goal is to ensure uninterrupted and, most importantly, accident-free gas supply to consumers of all categories.

What is already being done: Modernization: work is underway to reconstruct gas supply systems, the technical condition of gas pipelines is being assessed, and outdated technological equipment is being replaced. Combat readiness: emergency dispatch services undergo strict inspections. Personnel regularly conduct training drills and classes on locating and eliminating possible emergency situations. Equipment in order: specialized vehicles undergo thorough seasonal maintenance so that specialists can promptly respond to calls in any weather.

However, warmth and safety in the home depend not only on the work of communal services but also on the owners themselves. Gas consumers need to carry out a number of important measures in advance: Draft check: ensure timely inspection and cleaning of flue and ventilation channels. Remember: poor draft poses a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning! Technical maintenance (TO): perform TO on all gas-using equipment (boilers, water heaters, stoves). Instrument control: pay special attention to the operability of gas leak detectors and autonomous carbon monoxide alarms (especially in private homes where heating equipment is installed).

We draw the attention of private house and apartment owners: negligence can be costly. According to the Republic of Belarus Code on Administrative Offenses, failure to observe the periodicity of inspection and cleaning of flue and ventilation channels, technical maintenance of gas supply inlets, gas-using equipment, and internal gas pipelines (as well as refusal to carry them out) entails administrative liability in the form of a fine. Do not postpone the specialists' visit until the last day before the cold!

The heating season is not only about safety but also a burden on

Simple energy-saving methods when using gas: Eliminate drafts. Through uninsulated windows and doors, up to 30% of heat can escape. Use sealants for gaps, and at night close windows with heavy curtains — this creates an additional air layer to retain heat. Ventilate correctly. Instead of a constantly cracked transom (which cools walls and floors), use the “shock ventilation” method: open windows wide for 5–10 minutes. The air will refresh, but furniture and walls won’t have time to cool down. Do not block radiators. Heavy curtains, decorative screens, and clothes dryers on radiators reduce their heat output by 15–20%. Cook wisely. When using a gas stove, match cookware size to the burner. If the flame covers not only the bottom but also the sides of the pot, you are literally heating the air in the kitchen, overpaying for gas. Take care of yourself, your loved ones, and your property! At the slightest smell of gas in the room, immediately stop using it, open windows, and call the emergency service at: 104.
