Monitoring of the effectiveness of using improved lands and budget funds spent on their improvement is being carried out by the Mogilev Region State Control Committee.

— Their results show that systematic work is being carried out in the region for land reclamation. In 2026, more than 5,000 hectares of land have already been put into operation, including reconstruction of reclamation systems on 1.7 thousand hectares and cultural-technical works on 3.3 thousand hectares, commented the regional department.

At the same time, cases of poor execution of reclamation works and overestimation of their volumes upon object commissioning were identified by the Committee.

For example, in the Bykhovsky district at the "Grez" reclamation system near the village of Grodets of the Bykhovsky district, after conducting cultural-technical reclamation on an area of 272.2 hectares by Bykhovsky JSC "PMK-85 Vodostroy", wood residues from the treated area were not removed, and the banks of the reclamation channels were not cleared. The same PMK in 2026 also failed to carry out works on removing woody-shrub vegetation during cultural-technical works on the "Trosna" reclamation system on an area of about 20 hectares, nor were planned plowing and tillage operations carried out on the "Ukhlyast" reclamation system of 55 hectares. However, the unperformed works were fully paid for using regional budget funds.

— Cases occur when reclaimed land is not used due to inaction by agricultural organizations-land users. For example, in the Glusk district, JSC "Glusk-Agro" did not use 79 hectares of the "Lisa" reclamation system after conducting cultural-technical reclamation in 2023, and JSC "Experimental Base 'Glusk" continued to leave 219.4 hectares of land unused despite reconstructing the "Zarudche" and "Pitsya" reclamation systems in 2023-2024.

Proposals submitted by agricultural and reclamation organizations are being worked on to eliminate violations and deficiencies, including returning unjustifiably received budget funds. Monitoring in the reclamation sphere continues.
