In the forest enterprise great emphasis is placed on safety and working conditions. Today the main tool of the forest harvester is the six‑kilogram Stihl MS 361 chainsaw, which makes the job much easier because the old “Druzhba” weighed about 12 kg. New protective clothing has also appeared: it shields the body from cuts. The fabric is woven with fine metal threads, and if the chain touches the clothing, the saw’s brake engages.

Sergey Masalov

Sergey Masalov came to work at the Lugovirnyansky forest district in February 2026. He knows the work of a forest harvester very well.

– Fresh air is the first thing you feel when you step onto the clearing, – Sergey Yuryevich says. – A whole day in motion is why I love my profession. The forest district provides good working conditions. And when you go there with joy, it means you made the right choice. At the end of the workday, returning home, we get an extra bonus – we enjoy the singing of birds and contemplate the beauty of our Belarusian forest. Of course, the work of a harvester takes a lot of strength and energy, but in my free time I still enjoy gardening and tending to a vegetable plot.
