Minister of Forestry Sergei Uldinovich announced that starting October 1 of this year, Belarusians will be able to order firewood online. There will no longer be a need to visit a forestry office; the application can be submitted from a home computer or even a workplace.

Rising Demand and Sales Volumes

Demand for firewood in Belarus has risen significantly. According to the head of the Ministry of Forestry, over 3.1 million cubic meters of firewood have already been sold within the country this year. This is 200,000 cubic meters more than during the same period last year.

"People are actively preparing for the heating season. I think this is not the limit; there will be serious consumption yet," Sergei Uldinovich noted.

How the Online Ordering Will Work

The main change is the elimination of the need to go to a forestry office. The minister emphasized that there are currently no problems with acquiring firewood, and the department is doing everything to make things convenient for citizens.

"Any citizen, from home, at work, or anywhere else, can go to the website and fill out an online application," said Uldinovich.

This is not the first such experience; some forestry enterprises have already launched online ordering earlier. For example, the Slutsk Forestry Enterprise offers applications through the "Online Application for Firewood Purchase" button on its website. The Kobrin Experimental Forestry Enterprise also launched online ordering in August 2026. However, this will now become a systematic practice across the country.

Monitoring the Fulfillment of Applications

To prevent applications from being "lost," the Ministry of Forestry will implement a tracking system. Special logs will be generated, including for overdue requests.

"This aspect will be monitored more closely using technical capabilities," the minister added.

Growing Demand for Split Firewood

The minister separately noted the growing popularity of split firewood. This is logical: split firewood is more convenient to use, requires no additional preparation, and takes up less storage space.

"We set ourselves the task of increasing the production volume of this product. If necessary, we will purchase and install equipment to meet the demand," the head of the Ministry of Forestry summarized.

What This Means for Belarusians

Ordering firewood online saves time and effort. Previously, acquiring firewood required contacting a forestry office, sometimes more than once. Now the entire process can be completed remotely: leave an application on the website, wait for a specialist to call to clarify details, and pay for the order.

For those who harvest firewood themselves, the rules also remain: you can apply to the forestry office with a request for self-harvesting. However, for most citizens, online ordering will be the most convenient way to prepare for the heating season.
