All changes to the master plan will be made taking into account the opinion of residents.

The adjustment of Grodno's master plan project has been included in the state order for 2027, which is fixed in the list of urban development projects approved by the Government of Belarus. What changes are planned was told to a BELTA correspondent by the Department of Construction, Architecture and Urban Planning of the Grodno City Executive Committee.

As explained by the head of the department, Denis Konon, large-scale work will begin next year. The focus will be on changing functional zoning, renovating inefficiently used territories, and smart densification within the city limits.

"The master plan for the development of Grodno was developed in 2018, and since then no changes have been made to it. Life does not stand still; new needs and priorities are emerging. Therefore, changes are primarily needed in the functional zoning of urban territories. More than 50 locations have been identified where specific changes are required," Denis Konon explained.

He gave as an example the area near Suvorov Street, where, at the entrance to the city, there remains a somewhat neglected private development that could be replaced with modern multi-story buildings. Also, in several already inhabited microdistricts, there are unused plots where some public facilities were planned but are no longer needed: apartment buildings will be placed there. Regarding the transport infrastructure in the regional center, as the interlocutor noted, it is well thought out, and changes will affect only the sequence of carrying out the planned works.

Denis Konon especially emphasized that all changes to the master plan will be made taking into account the opinion of residents, with public discussions planned.
