On the agenda were the completed admission campaign, the development of the material and technical base of educational institutions, and further employment of graduates.

President's aide – inspector for Gomel Oblast Yuri Valevaty emphasized that universities form the personnel potential for Gomel region.

– The core of youth is in your institutions. Higher education is oriented toward the needs of the economy. Young men and women should stay and work with us, – said Yuri Valevaty. – Universities need to establish real links with enterprises. Organize trips, conduct joint projects and campaigns, do everything so that students want to work.

Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Dmitry Aleynikov noted that this year the universities of Gomel region have coped with the task set for enrolling freshmen. He inquired how out-of-town and foreign students receive rooms in dormitories, and whether there are enough places for everyone. The young people should live and study in good conditions. Moreover, it is important to provide psychological support to all who need it and not to leave anyone unattended in difficult situations.
