Late at night on October 25, a new Belavia flight departed from Minsk bound for Bangkok. Thailand as a whole is not a new destination on the airline's map, but it was the first time a plane from the National Airport took off to the capital of the Asian kingdom. In tradition, the debut was marked by a ribbon-cutting, gifts, and refreshments.

Talks about linking Belarus and Thailand by air had been going on for a long time, but real plans began to materialize in the summer of 2025. At that time, Belavia's fleet was augmented with new long‑haul

The ceremonial launch of the first flight was attended by the General Director of Belavia, Igor Cherginets, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Ruslan Varankov, the honorary consul of the Kingdom of Thailand in Belarus, Ivan Chura, and the general director of the National Airport Minsk, Vladimir Chereukhin.

Passengers were also greeted by Thai girls in national costumes, treated to tropical fruits. And the first to register for the flight, a couple, Dmitry and Nadezhda, were presented with a whole box of gifts. The couple is flying to Thailand for not the first time, and they are upbeat about one of Belavia's longest flights. "Before, with a layover, we used to fly for more than 15 hours. Compared to this, everything is just fine," Nadezhda smiles.

According to the honorary consul, Ivan Chura, Thailand is one of the most popular destinations for Belarusians. If in 2024, 22 thousand of our compatriots visited the country, then in 2025, this number grew to 32 thousand. It is expected that with the launch of the new regular flight, demand (not only among tourists but also in the business sphere) will only grow.
