
First job: what a young specialist should know?

After receiving a work placement, a graduate obtains the status of a young specialist and can expect a number of guarantees and payments. We have compiled the key points that are important to know at the start of one's career, based on the regulatory documents of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus.
Employment in one’s field
A young specialist is guaranteed employment in their field and qualification in accordance with the placement certificate.
Employment contract
The contract (employment agreement) is entered into for a period not less than the established mandatory service period.
When hired through distribution, a probationary period is not established.
Can one resign?
Resignation by personal wish or agreement of the parties is not permitted.
Employment relations with a young specialist can only be terminated in specific cases:

What payments are provided?
Monetary assistance (“lift”) in the amount of one monthly stipend, designated in the last semester of study; if no stipend was designated, the calculation is based on the social stipend. It is paid within a month from the date of signing the employment contract.
Relocation allowance
If a young specialist is assigned to work outside their permanent residence and has actually moved to another settlement, they

And what about housing?
If an appropriate fund exists, a young specialist has priority right to be provided with rental housing (under certain legal conditions).
Also, depending on applicable local regulations, compensation for housing rent expenses may be provided.
Can a preferential loan be obtained?
Yes. Young specialists are provided with the possibility of obtaining a preferential loan for the purchase of consumer goods of Belarusian production.
rate — 25% of the refinancing rate;
amount — up to 30 BPM for the working population;
term — up to 5 years;
first payments — six months after receiving the funds.
The main condition: Mandatory completion of the established period to retain the benefit. Details in the updated version of Decree 631 dated 27.11.2000.
Can one expect a promotion?
Yes. If the new position is related to the obtained specialty, transfer is possible in the general order — with the employee’s written consent.
And if a young specialist goes on parental leave?
The period of parental leave is counted towards the mandatory service period. Also, periods of military service by conscription or contract, reserve service, and alternative service are included in this period.
