Firewood, pellets, peat briquettes: who is eligible for state heating support and how to obtain it

In autumn, the question of heating a private house becomes especially important.

Where to order firewood, is there a fixed price for peat briquettes, who has access to pellets, and can part of the money be returned for the boiler?

Let's figure out what state support residents of Belarus can count on and what documents will be required.

Who sells fuel at a fixed price

Firewood and peat briquettes at a regulated retail price are not intended for everyone, but for citizens who permanently reside and are registered in a house with a stove or individual solid-fuel heating.

At the same time, the house must not be connected to centralized heating or a district boiler house.

Simply put, if a house is heated by a stove, a boiler running on firewood, peat briquettes, or other solid fuel, the owner can purchase their allotted volume of fuel at a fixed price.

However, for a dacha, an unoccupied parents' house, or a purchase "just in case," the rules may be different.

It's better to clarify this in advance with the fuel supplier or the rural council.

In rural areas, fuel is typically issued based on lists from rural executive committees.

Residents of cities and urban settlements usually need a fuel book.

It is issued after presenting a passport and a certificate for the occupied residential premises and family composition.

The type of heating must be indicated in the certificate.

How much firewood and peat briquettes can be purchased

The maximum limits are set per household per calendar year.

At a fixed price, one can purchase:

  • up to 4.9 dense cubic meters of firewood;
  • up to 3.5 tons of fuel briquettes;
  • up to 4 tons of peat chunks;
  • up to 2.5 tons of coal.

This does not mean you cannot buy more.

You can, but the volume above the limit will be calculated at the market price.

There is an important detail: firewood is often measured in dense cubic meters, not "folded" ones.

Therefore, when ordering, it's worth clarifying in what units the volume is specified.

On paper, the figure may look familiar, but in the truck bed it could be entirely different.

Pellets: who has access and what has changed

Pellets are wood fuel granules.

They are used in special boilers and burners.

The fuel is convenient to store and provides consistent heat, but without the appropriate equipment, switching to it is not possible.

Owners of fuel books can purchase up to 3.6 tons of pellets per year per household at a fixed price.

This rate is calculated for heating an average private house throughout the season.

In the Brest region, the topic of pellets no longer seems distant.

Here, they are completing the transition to this type of fuel for 14 boiler houses, including in the Stolin district.

Regional utility services have already formed stocks of firewood and chips for the cold period.

How to get compensation for a pellet boiler

If a house is not connected to centralized gas supply and heating, the owner of a single-family residential house or an apartment in a block house can count on reimbursement of part of the expenses for boiler equipment operating on pellets.

The state reimburses 40 percent of the equipment cost, but not more than 120 basic units.

Compensation is paid once per residential house from the local budget.
