Employees of the customs clearance office “Minsk Post” discovered 4,000 euros hidden in a candy box while inspecting one of the international mail shipments.
The parcel was sent to a Belarusian citizen from Germany. In the customs declaration, the sender listed cosmetics, clothing, and food products contained in it.
The customs officers were drawn to the non‑commodity appearance of one of the candy packages, and upon opening it, cash was found.
In response to this incident, the Minsk Regional Customs Office has initiated an administrative proceeding under part 2 of Article 15.1 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus. The funds have been seized pending a court decision.
We remind that the shipment of cash in international mail parcels is prohibited regardless of the amount or currency.
