Every year, on the last Sunday of September, Belarus celebrates the Day of the Mechanical Engineer.

For this occasion, the National Statistical Committee prepared a statistical review.

According to data as of January 1, 2026, the country had 1,801 mechanical engineering enterprises, which is 123 more than in 2024. The sector is anchored by 270 large and medium‑sized organizations.

The contribution of mechanical engineering to GDP from January to June 2026 amounted to 4.7%. During this period, 965.7 million rubles of investment were directed to the sector, representing 11.2% of the total industrial volume.

The mechanical engineering complex employs 194.3 thousand people. This is about 19.4% of all industrial workers in Belarus and 4.7% of the total employed in the economy.

Men dominate the industry at 70.6%, while women make up 29.4%. The average age of a worker is 42.5 years. 36.2% of specialists hold a higher education degree, while 19.7% have secondary specialized and 35.8% have professional‑technical education, respectively.

The nominal average monthly salary of mechanical engineering workers from January to August 2026 was 3,036.9 rubles, which is 7.1% higher than the level for January to August 2025.

Belarus ranks among the world leaders in the production of heavy‑duty trucks.

Every third ruble of revenue for Belarusian mechanical engineering enterprises comes from the sale of innovative products.

Domestic mechanical engineering products are exported to 117 countries.
