On the last Friday of the month we recall well‑known Belarusian brands. Today it’s about GEFEST, a leading manufacturer of modern kitchen appliances. By the way, this year the company celebrates its 75th anniversary.

Its history began in 1951 with a repair and mechanical plant in Brest. The facilities were located in two buildings, and the staff numbered 59 people. The first batch of gas stoves was released in 1958, and by 1975 the enterprise had become one of the leading producers of household gas appliances in the USSR, supplying the entire Soviet Union with domestic appliances.

The brand GEFEST was registered in 1997. The name refers to the ancient Greek god of fire, Hephaestus, and reflects the main qualities of the products: durability, reliability, and suitability for everyday use.

Today the GEFEST group of companies includes the main enterprise SP JSC “Brestgazaparat”, as well as the subsidiary enterprises “Gefest‑tekhnika” and “Gefest‑Kvartz”.

The main areas of activity are the production of gas, gas‑electric, and electric stoves, built‑in appliances, microwave ovens, air purifiers, and more. For example, only stationary stoves are produced at a rate of 900,000 per year.
