Tonight, a leak of about 50 kg of ammonia was eliminated at the Gomel chemical plant. This was reported to BELTA by the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Rescuers stopped the release of the substance on the open area of the warehouse by closing a valve. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the facility's personnel carried out work to precipitate the vapors and neutralize the ammonia. After taking measurements, no excess of the maximum allowable concentration of ammonia vapors in the air was recorded.

There are no casualties. The cause of the incident is being determined.

The work of the Gomel City Emergency Commission has been organized. At the scene of the incident, 13 units of equipment and 46 Ministry of Emergency Situations workers were involved.
