Belarus's foreign exchange reserves, as of August 2026, surpassed $15.24 billion. The figure rose by more than $1 billion.
The sharp jump was driven by a revaluation of monetary gold amid rising global prices.
Representatives of the Eurasian Development Bank identified this reason in their Telegram channel.

According to the latest statistics, the volume of international reserve assets rose by seven percent, which in absolute terms equates to an increase of more than a billion US dollars.
The key driver of this surge was not an inflow of new foreign currency, but the market conditions for precious metals. The contribution of monetary gold to the overall increase was $0.93 billion.
This was a direct result of the revaluation of reserves: global gold prices in August showed a sharp rise of 13.3% compared to July. In effect, Belarus's gold reserves became more valuable without any change in their physical weight.
Positive momentum was also recorded for conventional reserve assets in foreign currency. This portion increased by $0.11 billion, indicating balanced external flows and no sharp capital outflow.
The achieved level of $15.24 billion is comfortable from a macroeconomic security perspective.
According to EABR specialists, the current reserve volume is sufficient to finance imports of goods and services for more than 3.2 months, exceeding the minimum international adequacy standards.
