Construction of the overpass on Kolesnikova — Ratmskaya: what's going on there?

We will continue telling about the construction of a bridge between Kolesnikov Street and Ratomskaya Street in Minsk. The 381-meter object will connect the Frunze and Central districts, it is intended to facilitate transportation communication in this part of the city. What is happening at the site of future construction now?

November 2025

— Currently design work is underway. The first preparatory stage is being ready for expert review in the near future. The bridge structure will be built with expert supervision to accelerate the construction process. The goal is to erect the object within the next year. Consequently, both design and construction will proceed in stages — Director of UPP "Minskinproject" Alexey Gorko reported during project discussion led by head of Minsk City Utilities Vladimir Kukharev in November 2025. At that time, the "Minsk-News" agency wrote that this would be a 380-meter cantilever structure made of reinforced concrete prefabricated elements.

As of March 17, the site near the intersection of Kolesnikov Street and Masuykovshchina has been fenced off, and special equipment is already located there. Pedestrian traffic from Kolesnikov Street to the market (via an underground tunnel under railway tracks) has been organized along the fence on a specially built concrete roadway. Preparation work continues at the market itself: as eyewitnesses report, parts of pavilions have already been demolished at the site of future construction, work continues.

— While work has been organized during daylight hours, we would like to transition to round-the-clock operation in the long term. The length of the bridge is approximately 290 meters including entrances, interchanges, and changes to all engineering-transport infrastructure. All works are clear, and in the near future we plan to add additional installations, thereby increasing the speed of construction. We plan to begin building the first floor structures by late May – early June," said Sergey Panov, director of "Gordorostroy", to the agency "Minsk-News".

A reader of Onliner sent fresh photos from the bridge construction. According to him, work is proceeding quite actively. Nevertheless, pedestrian passage from Kolesnikov Street to Tymiryazev Street (through the market territory) remains available, a special paving made of slabs was even prepared for that purpose back in March.

Let us remind you that the 381-meter overpass will connect Kamennaya Gorka with Lebyazhie, which should have a positive impact on logistics. In addition, it is part of a global project to develop the capital's transport infrastructure. In particular, we are talking about the development of the Third Ring.

— The structure will consist of 12 spans, on which 224 beams will be installed: 201 of them 33 meters long (11 spans), one span is 18 meters. The beams are being supplied on time by the "Dorstroindustry" reinforced concrete bridge structure plant in Fanipol. The overpass will be three-lane in each direction. Its width varies from approximately 38 meters at the beginning to 44 meters at the access ramps. A coordination headquarters on the site meets weekly with the customer and all involved organizations, — told the correspondent of "Minsk-News" Sergey Rubchenya, director of the general contractor, MSU No. 2 "Mostostroy".

— Currently, about 60 specialists from our management and colleagues from MSU No. 6 are involved in the facility, working in shifts, around the clock, without days off. Taking into account subcontractors, more than 30 units of equipment are involved, — said Roman Zalutsky, head of the MSU No. 2 section, in turn.

It is reported that at the moment, out of thirteen supports, three have been erected, two more are being built, and simultaneously, work is underway on drilling piles for two more supports. The construction of supports is carried out in stages, as the engineering networks are relocated. Work on the construction of retaining walls has also begun. On the first three spans, the installation of reinforced concrete beams 33 meters long and weighing over 60 tons each has been completed.

The agency writes that the general contractor and subcontractors plan to reduce the regulatory construction period, which is 36 months, as much as possible.

July 8, 2026

— By the end of July, seven spans of beams will already be installed, after which five more remain to be laid. We are strictly following the schedule: we plan to complete the installation of reinforced concrete beams and their concreting in October, and to lay the asphalt by the end of November, — said Sergey Vashkevich, General Director of "Mostostroy," during a working meeting chaired by Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. He also noted that the ongoing rains are not an obstacle.

— For concrete, this is even good: moisture is necessary when concreting the beams. The rains will not affect the quality of the concrete or asphalt, — "Minsk-News" quotes him as saying. It is specified that about 70 people are currently involved in the facility, with work being carried out around the clock.

By the way, parallel to the construction, the streets Kolesnikova and Lyutsin-skaya are being reconstructed. According to reports, this stage is 80% complete, and they intend to finish it completely in July. Moreover, the reconstruction of Kolesnikov Lane will be carried out, from the overpass to the MKAD.

As for the expansion of Timiryazeva Street, as told by the director of the Road and Bridge Construction and Improvement Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Latyushkin, the project is currently under examination: — Once we receive approval
