Whether the owner can change the boundaries of his land plot on his own was explained by the press service of the State Committee for Property.
"It may seem that moving a fence or a boundary marker by a few centimeters is harmless. However, independently changing the established boundary of a land plot is not allowed. The boundary of a plot is determined not by the visual placement of a fence, but by data from land surveying documentation and the coordinates of turning points," specialists explained.
The State Committee for Property reminded that it is not allowed to move boundary markers on one's own, shift a fence beyond the established plot boundary, align the boundary by agreement with a neighbor without processing the necessary documents, or annex part of a neighboring or vacant land plot.
"If it seems that the boundary has been set incorrectly, one should contact specialists. They will carry out the necessary land surveying work, establish or restore the plot boundary on site, and determine the position of its turning points. If it is indeed necessary to change the boundary of a land plot, this is done in accordance with the procedure established by legislation, followed by the preparation of the required documents," the committee summarized.
